Revenue Seize Contraband Worth Over €213k

29.9kg of cannabis resin was seized.

 Revenue officers seized contraband with an estimated value of over €213,300 in various operations in Dublin, the Midlands, and Rosslare Europort.

The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence led operations, and included the following:

  • 29.9kg of cannabis resin, with an estimated value of over €179,300,
  • 109 counterfeit items, with an estimated value of over €12,300,
  • Tobacco products, with an estimated value of over €10,100, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of almost €7,700,
  • 0.2kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of over €5,400, and
  • Various illicit drugs, with an estimated value of over €4,800.

The illicit drugs seizures were made as a result of risk profiling with the assistance of detector dogs Daithi and Ciara. The parcels originated in the USA, India, the UK, and Portugal, and were destined for various addresses nationwide.

The counterfeit goods were seized as they were confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights. Four weapons accessories were also seized.

Investigations into all seizures are ongoing.
