Investigations are ongoing.
Over the past week, commencing 25/08/2025, Revenue officers seized contraband with an estimated value of over €262,500 in various operations in Dublin, the Midlands, and Rosslare Europort.
The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence led operations, and included the following:
3.72kg of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of almost €68,000,
Over 250g cocaine with an estimated value of over €17,000,
Various other illicit drugs with an estimated value of almost €3,700,
Over 778 litres of alcohol with an estimated value of over €9,400, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of almost €5,200,
Tobacco products, with an estimated value of over €39,800, and represents a potential loss to the exchequer of over €36,250, and
321 other counterfeit items with an estimated value of over €124,600.
Included in the tobacco products is a seizure made in Dublin on 27/08/2025. As a result of an intelligence led operation, Revenue officers with the assistance of An Garda Siochana, seized almost 24,000 cigarettes along with 12.5kg of tobacco following a search under warrant of a premises in the Dublin area. A vehicle was also seized. The seized cigarettes and tobacco which included the brands Superkings, Excellence, Richmond, Mayfair and Flandria had an estimated retail value of over €32,000, with a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €25,000. Investigations are ongoing.
The other cigarettes and alcohol products were seized in various operations in Dublin, the Midlands, and Rosslare Europort.
The drug seizures were made as a result of risk profiling and with the assistance of detector dogs Sam and Ciara. The parcels originated from the USA, Thailand, Canada and the UK, and were destined for various addresses nationwide. The seizures were assisted by detector dogs Ciara, Sam and Jaspar.
The counterfeit goods were seized as they were confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights. 1 weapon was also seized.
Investigations into all seizures are ongoing.
