Bob Geldof Was In Great Spirits.
Rock legend Bob Geldof has made a rare appearance in County Laois over the weekend.
The Boomtown Rats frontman stopped into O’Gorman’s Bar and Restaurant in Portlaoise on Saturday for a meal, posing for photos with staff before hitting the road again.
The 73-year-old was reportedly en route to Waterford at the time.
Proprietor Donal O’Gorman says it’s not the first time a big name has come through his doors and joked that their new loyalty card seems to be working wonders.
Geldof, who grew up in Dún Laoghaire and now lives in Davington Priory in England, makes regular trips back to Ireland.
He’s also been in the headlines recently for his criticism of Israeli military action in Gaza.
