This follows unsuccessful negotiations between trade union Forsa and the Department of Education.
'I've given the best years of my life to public service, just to be ignored'.
That's according to Laois Forsa Leinster Rep, Esther Luttrell, from the site of the Secretaries and Caretakers strike.
Over 2,600 workers are taking to the picket lines outside schools across the country today.
They're calling for access to the public sector pension scheme following unsuccessful talks between trade union Forsa and the Department of Education.
Ms Luttrell says they've been let down by the department:
