A post-mortem examination is due to take place on the body of a teenage boy, recovered from the River Barrow last night.
The 17-year-old was swimming with two friends at Cloghristick, in Milford, County Carlow, when he got into difficulty.
Gardaí were alerted to the incident at 6.30 yesterday evening and a search operation took place for several hourS.
The teenager's body was recovered at 11.30pm by the Garda Water Unit and has since been transferred to University Hospital Waterford for a post-mortem examination.
