Security Review Following Protests Outside Dáil

Garda escorts were required for some people to leave the building.

Security at Leinster House is to be reviewed in the wake of the aggressive protests outside the Dáil yesterday.

13 arrests were made as a result of the demonstrations.

Some TDs and senators required Garda escorts to leave the building, while politicians and staff were verbally abused.

Laois Offaly Fianna Fáil TD Barry Cowen says if those protesting don't believe their views are being represented, they should find a candidate to run for election on those issues:

"A horrible act of incitement that was filled with hate" that's how a local senator has described the events at the Dáil yesterday.

Protests were held outside Leinster House as the Dáil resumed following summer break. 

13 arrests were made and Gardaí had to escort some TDs and senators from the premises. 

A review of security protocols is to be conducted.
