A midlands school teacher has received an award for the compassion she showed one of her students.
A midlands school teacher says it's a 'huge honour' to receive an award for the care she showed one of her students.
Jenny Hutton, a teacher at St. Fiacc's National School in Graiguecullen, was accredited with the Teachers Inspire Ireland Desmond Award.
She was nominated by Susan Maguire, a mum who had to send her seven-year-old son Christopher home from their holiday in Lanzarote, when she went into labour at just 28 weeks pregnant in 2021.
Jenny Hutton and Susan Maguire have been speaking to Will Faulkner on Midlands Today, and Susan says Ms. Hutton treated Christopher as if he was one of her own:
