A Laois nursing home that was told to stop accepting new admissions may already be in breach of that sanction.
The Residence in Portlaoise was the subject of a television investigation last night, following which the regulator HIQA confirmed restrictions had been put in place.
However, RTE now reports that a flurry of admissions took place up to and after the direction took effect on April 22nd.

Laois Senator for Sinn Fein Maria McCormack says she's "shocked and appalled" by the revelations, while Independent Laois TD Brian Stanley says the situation is "disgraceful".
The Health Information and Quality Authority says they're "very concerned about the practices described in the programme" - they say they're engaging directly with those responsible for the operation of the nursing homes.
However Shane Scanlan, CEO of The Alliance says the focus of HIQA inspections needs to change:
HIQA is saying they're finalising a management plan to correct issues raised in the report.
Public representatives are calling for a meeting with them to hold them accountable.
