The road remains closed this morning.
Six people have been injured in a serious crash along the Laois/Offaly border.
The head-on collision involving a car and a jeep occurred on the Gorteen Bridge to Clonaslee Road at approximately 3.20 yesterday afternoon.
Four men - the driver and passengers of the car, all aged in their 20s - were taken to Tullamore Regional Hospital with serious injuries.
A man and a woman - both in their late teens and occupants of the jeep - were also hospitalised with non-life threatening injuries.
The road remains closed this morning, with a technical examination due to take place later today.
Local diversions are now in place.
Road is reopened now.
