Slieve Bloom Hikers Asked To Take Extreme Care

Temperatures are expected to fall to minus 7 and minus 8 degrees again tonight.

Hikers heading to the Slieve Blooms are being advised to take extreme care amid the current cold snap.

A status orange low temperature and ice warning has been issued by Met Éireann, and will be in effect from 6pm this evening until midday tomorrow.

Carrying a flashlight, making sure your phone is charged and informing somebody of how long you'll be gone for are some of the safety measures urged by the Civil Defence.
