Smaller nursing homes in the Midlands need better support to meet HIQA regulations
Independent Councillor Caroline Dwane Stanley is making the point after a Laois nursing home unexpectedly closed its doors last month.
Ballard House in Portlaoise made the decision to close last month, saying the current 'economic and regulatory landscape' was behind their decision.
The home housed 24 residents and led to 32 job losses in the town.
