Carol Nolan says the Tánaiste is undermining councillors.
The Tánaiste is trying to block any Irish citizens from getting support in the race to Aras.
That's according to Independent TD for Offaly Carol Nolan who believes Fine Gael leader Simon Harris' decision to prohibit his party councillors from supporting the nomination of an independent Presidential candidate will backfire with the electorate.
She believes he is undermining councillors and the democratic process.
The Independent rep is in firm support of Maria Steen as a Presidential Candidate.
She says the decision is an inept tactic from the Tánaiste:
