Taoiseach Backs Offaly Camino Proposal

The initiative would aim to develop the Grand Canal Greenway into a tourist destination.

The Taoiseach is backing proposals to develop a new Camino in Offaly. 

Micheál Martin, alongside Offaly TD Tony McCormack and MEP Barry Cowen launched the Camino De Uíbh Fháilí at the Tullamore Show.

The initiative aims to establish the Grand Canal Greenway as an internationally recognised destination for walking, cycling and slow tourism.

The route would link the likes of Edenderry and Daingean to Tullamore and all the way through to Shannon Harbour.
