Speaking in the Dáil, Leo Varadkar defended the Government's decision to lift the ban at the end of March.
Figures from last month show homelessness rose to record levels in April, directly following the lifting of the ban.
There was also record level homelessness in the midlands last month - 142 adults and 70 children were without permanent accommodation.
But Taoiseach Leo Varadkar says bringing back the ban wouldn't fix things:
