There was a fall in the number of planning permissions for new homes in the second quarter of the year.
CSO figures show they were down 12 and a half per cent to just over 7 thousand 400 units, from more than 8 thousand 500 units in the same period last year.
There were 494 planning permissions granted in the midlands in Q2 in 2025.
The Taoiseach is re-iterating his view the government will intervene if councils do not rezone land for housing.
