Taoiseach Says Living With Covid Is Challenging As Elective Surgeries Are Cancelled

Portiuncula Hospital is among facilities cancelling procedures.

The Taoiseach says Ireland is learning to live with Covid 19 but it is challenging.

The daily case numbers have been surging but an infectious disease expert says there’s evidence hospital numbers are flattening out.

Michéal Martin believes it's a trend that being replicated across the continent. 


Meanwhile, most elective surgeries are being cancelled in the Saolta Group, which includes Portiuncula runs seven HSE hospitals in the west. 

Chief executive Tony Canavan says non-urgent procedures aren't going ahead, due to the Covid surge.
