576 houses and apartments are set to be built in Athlone - 176 of which will be social houses.
The taxpayer is getting good value for money from a massive new housing development in Athlone.
So says local councillor John Dolan, as 576 houses and apartments are set to be built on a council-owned site at the back of Athlone Regional Sports Centre in Lissywollen.
176 of the units will be designated for social housing on a site the Fine Gael rep says is worth €2 million.
He's also welcoming plans not to separate the social and private homes:
