Teachers are applying for positions in rural areas because they can't afford to live in cities.
That's according to retired Principal of St Etchen’s National School in Kinnegad Matt Melvin, who's supporting the INTO's push push for a special allowance for teachers who live in cities or urban areas.
A similar scheme is already in place in London where teachers can receive up to 10 thousand euro extra.
