A month or two of 'teething problems' was always to be expected with the bottle returns scheme, according to a Junior Minister.
Midlands Senator Pippa Hackett was speaking as the scheme has officially come into operation since the beginning of February.
A 15 to 25 cent levy has been added to bottles and cans, which can be returned once the items are deposited in reverse vending machines in supermarkets and shops across the country.
