7 in 10 people are in favour of getting rid of it.

It seems more people are supporting the idea of fully scrapping smaller change.

The desire to get rid of 1c and 2c coins in Ireland has grown, with 7 in 10 of us now in favour of it.

The survey has been conducted on behalf of the European Commission with the very young and very old most in favour of change.

Its thought there are over 1.1b 1c coins and 824m 2c coins in circulation in Ireland alone.
