The Pogues Could Claim #1 Spot On Charts For First Time Tomorrow

It comes just a week after the death of the band's frontman, Shane MacGowan.

It's hoped The Pogues will claim the number one spot on the Official Charts for the first time.

Fairytale of New York and The Irish Rover have both cracked the top 10 in the past, with the former reaching Number 2 at its peak.

Fairytale of New York is currently at #3 in the Singles Chart, behind Last Christmas by Wham, and All I Want For Christmas is You by Mariah Carey.

It comes just a week after the death of The Pogues' frontman Shane MacGowan, who will be laid to rest tomorrow.
