Laois County Council has given the green light to the Graiguecullen store subject to 12 conditions.
Permission has been granted for Lidl to construct a third store in Laois.
The Graiguecullen development on the Killeshin Road has been given the green light subject to 12 conditions by Laois County Council today.
Parts of the site are located in Carlow where permission was granted by the local authority there on Wednesday.
The project was met with strong objections from St Fianch's House, a nursing home beside the planned site.
They say 11 of their residential bedrooms directly face the proposed development, and that residents will suffer from noise impact and light pollution.
The discount grocery chain also has a planning application in for a new shop in Mountmellick - a decision on that application is due on July 24th.
