Midlands fire officers were trapped in their vehicle yesterday, as objects were being thrown at them.
The Athlone Fire Brigade were on a callout to a blaze on Blackberry Lane yesterday afternoon at around 3.20, when the incident occurred.
When they arrived to the scene, a group of young people began throwing items at the Brigade, preventing them from leaving the vehicle.
Officers remained at the scene until the fire had died down, and left when they deemed it safe.
