Philip Sheppard was a regular contributor to the Midlands Today show.

Tributes are being paid to the Director of Sheppard's Irish Auction House following his unexpected death.

Laois's Philip Sheppard passed away at his home yesterday.

The 72-year-old is survived by his sons Barry and Patrick and his daughter Gina.

The Durrow auctioneer had been a regular contributor to the Midlands Today show.

His life long friend John Keane has been speaking with Midlands 103's Will Faulkner and is describing him as a great character:
