Secretary General of the TUI, Tullamore's Michael Gillespie says it's one of a range of issues affecting teachers.
The Teacher's Union of Ireland annual congress winds up later today following its 3 day conference in Kilkenny.
Yesterday the Minister for Education promised the 1% pay rise owed to teachers will be backdated.
The conference hears schools are experiencing their worst ever difficulties in filling vacancies, with many teachers choosing to leave the profession.
Secretary General of the TUI, Tullamore's Michael Gillespie says they're concerned about budget funding for education into the future.
The 3 day conference has also focused on workloads for teachers, recruitment and retention and underfunding in the sector.
