Construction will start at the beginning of August.
Uisce Eireann is announcing substantial works are about to commence in Westmeath.
The State body says 2.5km of water mains are going to be "upgraded and upsized" along the Cartrontroy Road, the Coosan Road, and Cornamagh Road.
Phased construction will start at the beginning of August, and will last for six months.
Separately, design stage works to upgrade the trunk water main connection to Annagh Reservoir will be starting soon along the Ballymahon Road across the Athlone Bypass/N6 Road Junction and in the vicinity of Connamaddy National School.
Site investigations for this part of the project will begin this month.
