Athlone fell to 26th in the latest IBAL survey, earning the label of 'moderately littered,' making it the worst-ranked area in the midlands.
Athlone Bus Station and the Ballymahon Approach Road were categorised as heavily littered areas in the town.
But Spokesperson for Irish Business Against Litter, Conor Horgan, says there were a number of sites which brought it down:
