Superintendent Minnock says compliance has been very high otherwise.

Gardaí in Westmeath are reporting a high level of compliance at checkpoints across the county last weekend.

However, a seizure of €5,000 worth of drugs, believed to be related to organised criminal activity in the region was made.

Two drivers were also arrested for drug driving offences after being stopped.

Superintendent in Athlone Garda Station, Aidan Minnock, says the increase in checkpoints on the road network is proving effective:
