Gardaí were alerted to the incident at the Midland Regional Hospital last night.
Two men have been seriously injured in a shooting incident in Offaly last night.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to incidents of "violent disorder and the discharge of a firearm" in both the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore, and in the Kilcruttin area.
Armed Gardaí were deployed to the shooting incident, involving two men in their 30s and 40s, which took place at around 9.50pm.
Both men have been brought from the scene and have been transferred to St. James’s Hospital, Dublin for treatment of serious injuries, not believed to be life-threatening at this time. No other injuries were reported.
The scene is currently preserved for examination by the Divisional Scenes of Crime Unit.
No arrests have been made.
Investigating Gardaí are appealing to any person who may have information in relation to these incidents to contact them.
Any road users who were in the Midlands Regional Hospital and Kilcruttin areas of Tullamore between 9:30pm and 10:30pm and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam footage) are asked to make this available to Gardaí.
