Two midlands schools will soon teach PE through Irish, as part of a new pilot scheme to promote the language.

Clonaslee College in Laois and St. Joseph's in Mullingar are among the 19 schools in total that have been selected for the project, which is set to run for three years.

Education Minister Joe McHugh is confident it will make Irish "more relevant" and allow young people to better engage with it.
