Two Thirds Of Soldiers Quit Defence Forces For Better Pay Conditions

A retired Regiment Sergeant Major from Westmeath says issues surrounding working conditions have been highlighted for some time now.

Nearly one in three officers who quit the Defence Forces in recent years say they wouldn't recommend a military career in this country.

A survey conducted by the Representative Association of Commissioned Officers showed almost two thirds said they left for better pay and conditions in the private sector.

Mullingar's Noel O’Callaghan, is a retired Regiment Sergeant Major.
