Uisce Eireann To Lift Hosepipe Ban In Westmeath

However, it has been extended in Laois and Offaly until the end of September.

A hosepipe ban is being lifted for 13 counties from Thursday, including Westmeath.

Uisce Eireann says the conservation order will expire there at 11.59 on Wednesday night.

That is a result of the positive impact of water conservation efforts and improved conditions according to Uisce Eireann.

However, it will be extended for the remaining 13 counties including Offaly and Laois until the end of September.

The lifting of the ban for some parts of the country is due to an improvement in the availability of water for supply and increased rainfall.

Supplies in the east and south remain under pressure and water sources in these areas need more time to recover.

The utility has thanked the public for efforts to help protect supplies.
