The conservation order will now run until the middle of September.
Uisce Eireann is extending its ongoing hosepipe ban in Westmeath for a second time.
A Water Conservation Order for the Mullingar Regional Public Water Supply which is sourced from Lough Owel, will remain in place for another 6 weeks until Monday September 16th.
The supply serves over 50,000 customers in Mullingar and its surrounding areas.
Uisce Eireann says while there's been cooler and wetter weather in recent weeks, levels remain low and under severe pressure, in comparison to historical rainfall levels around this time of year.
