Uisce Éireann Faces €8.2m Charge For Shannon Pipeline In Offaly

Uisce Éireann could be charged as much as €100,000 per kilometre.

Uisce Éireann is set to be charged up to €100,000 per kilometre for the Shannon Pipeline by Offaly County Council.

The local authority wants to charge the company for the development of 82 kilometres of the Shannon pipeline across the county, which will end up costing €8.2 million.

Uisce Éireann plans to draw more than 300 million litres of water a day from the River Shannon to increase water supplies in the east of the country.

The overall cost the project is estimated to be between  €4-6 billion.
