Works are underway in Athlone Town and its surrounding areas.
A traffic management plan is in place while crews carry out the repairs.
The operation is scheduled to continue until later this afternoon.
Uisce Eireann is apologising for any inconvenience caused, and is warning that it may take two to three hours for supply to be restored fully after the repairs.
