Up To 5,000 Fewer Houses Built This Year Due To Covid-19

A new study shows €3 billion will also be knocked off the value of construction output.

Up to 5,000 fewer houses will be built this year as a result of Covid-19 restrictions, according to the Construction Industry Federation.

A new study carried out by EY on behalf of the group also found that up to €3 billion will be knocked off the value of construction output this year.

All construction has been on hold since early January except essential building works with the sector about 40 percent operational.

Director General of the Construction Industry Federation, Coolderry's Tom Parlon says the pandemic has been a big blow to the industry:
