Urgent Action Needed On Private Water Supplies

The EPA is calling for urgent action to improve the quality of private water supplies.

It's found drinking water from group water schemes and small private supplies is of a lower standard than the public supply.

Its latest report has found there were nearly half a million people served by supplies on the Remedial Action List.

The Clara/Ferbane supply is included on that list, and the EPA has advised the water treatment plant, which serves over seven thousand people, be upgraded by next June.
