US-Iran Peace Deal Nears As Talks Continue

A Midlands Defence Analyst believes it's a hard situation to read.

America's top diplomat has described peace talks to end the war in Iran as a "work in progress".

Over the weekend, there were conflicting reports from Washington and Tehran about a possible imminent deal.

It's reported they have agreed to a deal in principle, but the final approval by leaders of both sides could take days.

Midlands Defence Analyst Declan Power says it's forever a hard situation to read:

Donald Trump's urging both sides to "take their time" when it comes to making a deal with Iran.

The US president has posted on social media that he won't rush into an agreement - even though he says its "final aspects" are being discussed.

According to reports, it could include a 60 day ceasefire and the reopening the Strait of Hormuz - although officials in Tehran say they will not give up control of the shipping route.
