74 year old Margaret 'Margo' Regan from Birr passed away from sepsis in the care of UHG on August 6th 2023.
A verdict of medical misadventure has been returned in the inquest of an Offaly woman, after she died of sepsis in the care of University Hospital Galway in 2023.
74 year old Margaret 'Margo' Regan from Fadden in Birr was on holiday in Salthill when she fell ill on August 5th of that year.
Her daughter travelled up to take her to the emergency department around 1 pm that day, and was not seen until 5pm that evening.
She was adminstered an antibiotic at 6:15, with her condition deteriorating until 2am the following day when she passed away following an cardiac arrest.
Counsel for the hospital and the team of doctors who treated Ms Regan in her final hours apologised to the family during the inquest.
