A vigil in memory of a woman who was fatally stabbed in Laois is taking place this evening.

Adina Raluca Constantin passed away earlier this month following the incident at her home on Portlaoise's Church Street.

Her body has been repatriated back to her family in Romania, with her funeral set to take place there tomorrow.

The vigil will be held in Memorial Park in Portlaoise at 6 pm, where a minute's slience will be observed, and a wreath will be laid.

Niamh O'Reilly is one of the vigil's co-organisers and said Adina had a lot of compassion for others:
