It follows the recall of over 200 ready meals by the Food Safety Authority.
Vulnerable people need to be particularly careful when it comes to listeria infection.
That's according to the Managing Director of Food Safety Excellence Ireland, Mullingar after a potentially ‘extensive outbreak’ of listeriosis in Ireland.
Pregnant women and their unborn children, newborns, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of developing severe illness in the instance of infection.
The death of one adult from the outbreak has already been confirmed over 200 ready-made meals being recalled by the The Food Safety Authority.
