Waiting List For Outpatient Appointments Jumped By 17,000 In A Month

The list for day appointments has fallen.

The number of people waiting for an outpatient appointment in Irish hospitals has risen by over 17,000 in a month.

According to the National Treatment Purchase Fund, the figure grew from over 584,000 in June to over 601,000 in July. 

While the lists for inpatient or day case appointments and endoscopy procedures have fallen by around 5,000.

Consultant cardiologist at Portiuncula Hospital, John Barton says the overall increase is not a surprise.
