A Westmeath woman is warning domestic abuse victims to "get out before it's too late".

Kirsty Fitzpatrick's was assaulted in her Athlone home by her former partner in February 2024.

39 year old Mark Conway received a six year jail sentence after pleading guilty to assault causing harm in July last year.

His golf club attack was one of a number of other physical assaults, according to Ms Fitzpatrick.
