Planning permission is being granted for a new 74-home residential development in Westmeath.
Lacken Ventures Ltd applied for permission last November to demolish an existing 169 square metre dwelling at Charlestown near Mullingar, and develop a new housing scheme consisting of 58 two-storey houses and 16 three-storey duplex units.
Westmeath County Council has granted planning permission for a proposed housing development comprising of 43 three-bedroom and 15 four-bedroom houses, along with a duplex unit providing six one-bedroom and 10 two-bedroom units.
More than 140 car parking spaces are proposed, including 104 spaces for 52 homes, 32 grouped spaces and six visitor spaces serving a further 22 dwellings, plus two accessible spaces.
The local authority approved the plans subject to 23 conditions.
