The half-rate Carer's Allowance won't be taken into account when calculating rent come February.
New changes are coming to how Westmeath County Council charges rent to carers.
From February 2027, carer's allowance at the haf-rate will be fully disregarded when calculating rent.
The full-rate will be assessed for the lowest welfare rate and the disregard for disability allowance is going to be extended to 16 and 17 year olds.
