A Westmeath Councillor is branding people who want Mullingar to be a Zero-Emission Town as 'green lunatics'.
It comes as locals have taken to social media expressing anger over the current traffic situation in the town.
Fine Gael rep Andrew Duncan believes the local authority wants to discourage people from driving.
The roundabout at the Pearse street junction was replaced with a traffic light system, where the light sequencing is on trial until the end of this month.
