A Westmeath Councillor is concerned tourism in the region will be damaged beause of a rise in car break-ins.
Thefts have been breaking into cars parked at Fore Abbey and the Nancy to Nellie Walk.
Councillor Alfie Devine is calling for CCTV cameras and warning signs to deter thieves targeting parked cars.
The Municipal District confirmed the request has been referred to the Local Community Safety Partnership, while community wardens will monitor the area.
He says victims must report incidents to gardaí to strengthen the case for CCTV and safety in the area:
