Westmeath Green Party Councillor Hazel Smyth wants to see election posters restricted to designated areas.
She believes they pose environmental issues, require time and effort, and give certain candidates an unfair advantage.
Councillor Smyth says the designated areas would provide a space for people who are not IT-friendly to go for further information.
