A Westmeath family is making an urgent plea for public support for their 8 week old baby.
Toby Gavin was diagnosed with Propionic Acidaemia at 5 days old, a rare life-threatening metabolic disorder.
In the past 4 weeks he has been admitted to hospital four times for vital treatment to manage the condition.
Toby's mum Lucy applied to the HSE Primary care reimbursement service to get this drug treatment at home, but was refused due to the cost of the drug at €4,000 a month.
His parents have set up a go fund me to get this live saving medication.
Toby also requires a liver transplant which is not carried out in Ireland.
Ms Gavin says the other option being explored is a clinical trial in Manchester:
