The Athlone River Safety Group is donating 16 throw bags to Gardai in Athlone.
It'll mean that every car in the area will have the life saving device, with two extra bags being located at the station.
It's part of a continued awareness initiative from the group, which was set up in 2019 in response to a number of tragedies in the River Shannon.
